Join us at The Southern School for Moms for our comprehensive Birthing 101 Class in Franklin Tennessee, designed to empower and prepare expectant parents for the incredible journey of childbirth. Our Birthing 101 Class offers a nurturing environment where you can learn essential techniques and gain valuable insights into the birthing process.

Labor and Delivery Nurse Kelly Bordenet will cover a range of topics, including stages of labor, pain management options, breathing techniques, and the importance of creating a birth plan. Kelly will also discuss the role of your partner or support person during labor, ensuring everyone feels equipped and confident.

In addition to informative lectures, you’ll participate in hands-on exercises, positions, relaxation techniques, and discussions that foster community and support among fellow parents-to-be. Our goal is to create a safe space for sharing experiences and questions, promoting both education and emotional well-being.

Whether you are a first-time parent or looking to refresh your knowledge, the Birthing Class is tailored to meet your needs. Join us in this empowering experience and prepare for the arrival of your little one with confidence and joy!

  • What is a midwife/doula?

  • What to pack in your hospital bag – get a cheat sheet for easy packing

  • Passive versus active labor

  • How to time contractions

  • What to do when in labor

  • What to expect once you arrive at the hospital

  • Pain management

  • Postpartum and physical recovery

  • Intro to pelvic floor health with pelvic floor physical therapist

  • Parents have the option to reach out to Kelly after class for further 1:1 help with her Doula service

  • Investment: $125 per couple(can be any support person)

Kelly Bordenet is an experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse of 13 years and a certified Doula who teaches Birthing 101 at The Southern School for Moms. Kelly’s career started when she got her BSN from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2003. Kelly went onto working in hospitals in the Nashville area as a Labor and Delivery Nurse helping moms on their big day. Aside from working in Labor and Delivery for over a decade in the Nashville area, Kelly has taught Birthing Classes for over 2 years. Kelly has years of experience with high risk pregnancies, c-sections, different birthing method requests, helping women postpartum and SO MUCH MORE!

With all of Kelly’s experience in the field, Kelly has become a certified Doula. What makes her unique as a Doula is her real life experience in the field at hospitals. Kelly knows how to expect because she has been on the other side as a nurse when women have a doula. If a mom needs extra 1:1 support after the Birthing Class, Kelly is available to help moms as their doula.

Kelly has been married for 19 years and has two boys, 17 and 14. She feels blessed to be apart of one of the most exciting parts of a families life, and wants to provide as much support as they need during this time. Kelly looks forward to helping educate and support as many families as she can.
